March 11 - The outgoing head of Old Mutual South Africa, Paul
Hanratty, is on the lookout for a successor and industry rumors have it that one
of the best contenders is from inside the corporation, Thabo Dloti.
Dloti, who currently serves as Chief Executive of Old Mutual Investment Group
South Africa (OMIGSA), may just be the perfect candidate, say industry experts.
OMIGSA incorporates fifteen investment boutiques made up from Old Mutual
South Africa investment businesses.
"As head of OMIGSA, he did very well, spearheading the boutique structure,
which has been hailed a success by many industry experts," said a portfolio
manager at Sanlam Investment Management.
But while some industry analysts that Hanratty's successor will come from Old
Mutual itself, others are suggesting that he should look outside the box
instead.
"Hanratty may look for a number of experienced people who are currently not
employed, like Myles Ruck," said the Global Fund Manager at SIM, Kokkie Kooyman.
Kooyman was referring to the former Chief Executive of Liberty Life who
served in this role for three years (2003 - 2006).
Hanratty, who is moving to London to head Old Mutual's long term saving's
division, is set on finding his successor on his own. "I am responsible for
finding the right candidate because I will be working closely with him," he
said.
