Santam Wins Industry Award For Low Cost Insurance |

March 1 - Santam was the first insurance company to offer home insurance for the lower income demographic in South Africa, in a story we reported on last year ("Own A Shack? Insure It With Santam" - memorable stuff). Now the SAIA has honoured Santam with a Pioneering Award for their efforts. At a recent glittering awards ceremony gorgeous celebrities recognized the achievements of other equally gorgeous celebrities. At another awards ceremony the South African Insurance Association acknowledged Santam's efforts to provide household insurance to residents in Soweto who live in dwellings valued at R200,000 or less. The premiums for these affordable home insurance policies start from as little as R25 per month and clearly there was a great need for this product based on the popular response. Santam are set to roll out low cost home insurance throughout South Africa in the coming months. The SAIA commended the insurance provider for providing services to all South Africans thereby making our society a little more equitable.
