January 20 - The recently formed Financial Intermediaries Association of
Southern Africa announced several changes this week, including the retirement of
its Chief Executive Officer and the appointment of a new Technical Portfolio
Manager.
Ben Rossow, who served in the past as the Managing Director of SASFIA and the
Executive Director of the Financial Planning Institute, came out of retirement
to help the Financial Intermediaries Association form by creating a successful
merger between groups such as SASFIA, IBC and LUASA.
Thanks to a relatively smooth merger between the parties under the one FIA
umbrella, Rossow feels that he is now ready to retire for good, and this will
become effective from the end of February.
While Rossow will be sorely missed at FIA, the association will be welcoming
aboard a new team member, Peter Atkinson, who will serve as Technical Portfolio
Manager.
Atkinson was previously Executive Manager at the Insurance Institute of South
Africa and it is believed that his skills and experience will contribute greatly
to the success of the Financial Intermediaries Association.
Atkinson will be heavily involved in the four divisions that make up the FIA,
namely the employee benefits, health, short term and financial planning.
The daily operations of FIA will be continued to be run by its Executive
Committee and the Chief Operations Officer, Justus van Pletzen until another
announcement is made in this regard.
