April 9 - Old Mutual, one of South Africa's most respected and stable
financial and insurance companies, has opened a R25-million state-of-the-art day
care center to benefit the staff members at its Mutual Park in Pinelands. 8000
employees currently work in Pinelands and the new creche should offer peace of
mind to many parents of young children.
The creche, named Greens'cool, can cater for up to 75 babies and 300
pre-schoolers and is considered one of the biggest daycare centers in South
Africa. The center is government approved and has been duly registered with all
the necessary ministries.
In an ongoing commitment to the environment, Old Mutual had the new center
developed in a manner that is environmentally-friendly as possible. Special
'green' features include natural lighting through the use of skylights and large
windows, temperature regulations through isotherm ceilings and a nappy disposal
service.
The new creche is a welcome solution to Old Mutual staff members. Not only is
the security of their children ensured due to some of the toughest restrictions
taken in an educational facility in the country, but their wellbeing is also
catered to through nutritious meals and snacks.
The center is open to children as young as 3 months and caters for children
up to Grade R.
Old Mutual is well known in the industry for caring for its staff. The
company provides excellent health and insurance coverage, as well as convenient
amenities onsite, such as a supermarket, pharmacy and other stores. The new
daycare center is just one more indication of how much the company appreciates
its employees.
