November 2 - A new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed for Lion of African Life Assurance group.
Derek Pead has plenty of experience in the South African insurance industry, especially with his thirty years in the Metropolitan Group.
He served on the board of Metropolitan Holdings, and was also Chief Executive Officer for the Metropolitan Employee Benefits and Metropolitan Retail divisions - both of which he founded.
"I have always had immense respect for the Lion of Africa companies," said Pead. "Their unfailing commitment to true empowerment has set an example for the industry. My goal is to see the company significantly grow its client base without compromising our ability to focus on the needs of our clients as individuals."
Pead said that there is room in the South African industry for niche players who are able to differentiate themselves from the larger institutions through attention to detail.
The Chairman of Lion of Africa Life Assurance (based in Cape Town) and Lion of Africa Insurance (the short-term arm of the company, based in Sandton), Fred Robertson, extended warm words to Pead.
"We are delighted to welcome Derek to the Lion of Africa group of companies," he said.
"We have every confidence that the life assurance company, clients and staff will benefit from Derek's experience and entrepreneurial flair.
Lion of Africa is one of South Africa's foremost insurance groups, offering cover to individuals and groups.
