9 October - South African life insurance companies could certainly do with some positive news following a series of negative reports surrounding the industry in recent months. Well, now they have it with the 2007 results to date showing very strong growth, suggesting that the industry as a whole is recovering in good fashion.
The timing, therefore, couldn't be better for Liberty Life, one of the undisputed giants responsible for this one trillion Rand (not a misprint) industry being as large as it is, to launch a new multi-media advertising campaign entitled "Get A Plan Get A Life."
The campaign focusses on the role of the financial advisor in personal investing, implying that one is better off seeking professional advice when it comes to managing your money and taking care of your insurance needs. Liberty would like to package their advisors as heroes battling to do the best for their clients.
A financial planner is certainly needed if you have a lot of money to worry about - for those of us looking for the best rates for car insurance or affordable home insurance it may still be shrewder to do your own homework and use a direct insurance provider such as Dial Direct.
As part of the new Liberty Life campaign those members of the public who do use a Liberty advisor will be entered into a draw where first prize is a cool R1 million - no word on whether you will then have to invest that loot with Liberty or if you can make your own finanical plans!
