May 15 - We would all like to save money on the cost of our premiums, and here are a few tips to lower those payments for South African insurance policies.
If you make relatively small changes to your life they end up having a significant impact on your premiums, lowering them in ways you would never have imagined. One way is to add extra security to your car or home.
If you put in a new gear lock or alarm system please let your insurance company know as it could well lower the cost of your premiums. Another way to cut down on those insurance expenses is to remember to lower the coverage that you have for your motor car.
Cars depreciate the moment you drive them off the lot, and they continue to diwndle in terms of value every year that you keep them. So, it makes sense to reduce your insurance coverage for that car the longer you drive it. You need to analyse how much your car is truly worth, because there is a good chance that your insurance policy is behind the times in terms of overestimating it's replacement value.
Another way to keep premiums down is to behave sensibly when it comes to insurance. Do not submit a lot of claims, especially if they aren't absolutely vital. Do not get caught short with too little insurance, and if you can do so you should always pay the voluntary excess - it keeps those premiums lower in the long run!
