Hollard Insurance was formed in 1980 by Robert Enthoven and is still
today the largest privately owned investment and insurance group in South
Africa, with current CEO, Paolo Cavalieri, continuing to grow and guide the
company forward.
After 26 years in business, Hollard Insurance may boast offices overseas in
Australia, the United Kingdom, India and Pakistan as well as closer to home in
Botswana, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique and Ghana, but it is still very much a
'family' business at heart.
Hollard's new high-tech offices in Parktown, Johannesburg, house 1400 members of
staff or 'Hollardites' that between them provide all range of South African
short-term insurance as well as life insurance products and services to over 6
million policyholders.
The fact that Hollard Insurance offers both short-term insurance and life
insurance under the same brand and roof is pretty unique in South Africa, as
most other South African insurance companies choose to operate the two areas of
insurance separately.
One of the things that Hollard Insurance is best known for is its high
levels of service which is attributable to the energy and enthusiasm shown by
its staff. In fact, in the insurance category, Hollard has come first three
years running in the Best Company to Work For survey.
As summed up by Hollard Insurance CEO, Paolo Cavalieri, 'Our people are in a
different league which this accolade proves. As a result, an extremely positive
vibe or energy is created that is passed on to all our partners, brokers and of
course policy holders.'
Hollard Insurance is also very community minded and is extremely
passionate about South Africa. As such, in 1995 it launched its own Corporate
Social Investment (CSI) initiative with the aim of helping to improve the lives
of many previously disadvantaged South Africans.
Today Hollard's CSI initiative is still going strong and has been responsible
for delivering HIV/AIDS education in schools in Gauteng, creating jobs in rural
communities, kick-starting projects to aid orphaned children and much more.
