July 19 - A study conducted by the Intelligence Transfer Centre has shown that road safety stakeholders feel that there needs to be more collaboration between the provinces regarding road safety promotion.
A two-day conference is taking place in South Africa on the 6th and 7th of October with the aim of reducing the incidence of road trauma in South Africa.
Six provinces will be represented at the conference at the SA Reserve Bank in Pretoria. The aim of the conference is to find implementation strategies towards educating, enforcing, evaluating and engineering.
The feedback and recommendations that are put forward through the collaboration of the delegates from the provinces at the conference will be sent to the DOT to ensure that the desired outcomes in improving road safety are achieved.
Some of the topics that will be discussed at the conference include: the role of law enforcers, strategies to improve stricter law enforcement, the state of the roads as a contributing factor and pedestrian safety.
The number of other issues will be tacked at the conference with the aim of improving road safety. This will be done in the collaboration with all of the delegates who are present representing the provinces.
Accidents on the road that result in trauma or fatalities have a huge impact on the insurance and financial services industries in South Africa.
The most substantial impact can be felt in the short term, health care and life sectors. This conference is a step towards improving road safety and the impact that it has on the insurance and financial services industries in South Africa. This conference may be just as rewarding for large fleet owners.
