April 14 - AIG South Africa has proven its worth in the local
insurance scene, after being awarded the title of Best Insurer by Euromoney in
its annual insurance survey.
Respondents from 59 countries around the world were polled for their opinion
in the survey, comprising of some of the top industry personalities including
chief financial officers, treasurers and risk managers.
Besides the title of Best Insurer, the 400 respondents also voted that AIG SA
deserved the award for Best Product Range and Best for Innovation.
The Chief Executive Officer and President of AIG Africa, Peter Flint said
about the Euromoney awards: "We are honoured that AIG South Africa has been
named Best Insurer, Best Product Range and Best for Innovation."
"We find these results especially rewarding," he continued, "because we were
selected by the very executives making the insurance decisions. This recognition
is testament to our ongoing commitment to meet our customers' insurance needs by
providing disciplined underwriting, claims paying ability and superior service."
In the survey, the respondents were asked to rank those companies that they
considered the best in the business. A category for best brokers was also
included.
The recent awards, which were the result of a survey carried out in the last
months of 2008, comes at the right time for AIG SA, which has had to
consistently make press statements regarding its market position, ever since its
parent company in the United States nearly collapsed.
AIG South Africa has reassured its policyholders and investors that it is
separately capitalized from AIG Inc. and has solid growth and a very strong grip
of the local market.
